34 Weeks

34 weeks and able to relax a little. "Relax" meaning getting up more, driving the car again (to dr appts), helping with kids and doing a few chores around the house... don't know how "relaxing" that is but at least we're far enough along that we're not needing to worry as much. Still taking it easy and hoping the baby stays in for at least two more weeks but at least we've past the most critical time.
Highlights of the week have included:
- Mike and the company he works with hit their 4 year mark this year. To celebrate, his boss is taking all of the families to Disneyland in the fall. We've been wanting to take the boys for a while now, but it just hasn't worked out for us. Consequently, our kids know some of the Disney/Pixar characters (like say, Cars) and we once watched a few videos on youtube, but other than that, we have intentionally kept them pretty unenlightened. Well, that has since changed. James has been playing on a Disneyland app for the last two days and he can't even stand himself when we talk about it. He is so uncontrollably excited about the whole thing.
- After 4 years of ear infections and prolonged colds, two years working on speech including this year in speech, and heightening frustration from not being understood, Mr James went to see an ear, nose, and throat doctor today. Apparently he has "enormous" tonsils, fluid in his ears that hamper his hearing, and large adenoids that aren't doing their job properly. He'll be having his tonsils and adenoids removed plus will have tubes put in his ears. I told him that this would help him to hear better-- all the time, and he is pretty excited about it. It's like a weight has been lifted from his little 4 year-old shoulders and he's relieved to have a solution to his frustrations regarding communication. I just wish we had looked into this years sooner. I just assumed that the only way he could get tubes was if he had 5 or more ear infections a year. Maybe he does, but we only treat a few of them. Plus, who knew about his tonsils? You'd think we'd have known about their size before now.
- My Mom was in town the first half of the week. It was fun for all of us to see her before she turned around to leave all of us to go travel the world for a few weeks. Her incentive to working so hard this winter was to take a life-long dreamed of trip to Thailand. She's joining a tour group and when she's done she'll get to help us take care of kids/ new baby. Hooray for her!
- We almost hit 70 degrees this week! Winter is coming to an end and we have loved being able to spend more time outside. The little puppies love running wild in the backyard.
- I did indexing for the first time... well, I did one name like 6 months ago, but this time I did a whole batch of ten :) It's pretty cool, and easy, and fast. I'll have to do some more while I'm still "relaxing" around the house.

  1. I love that quote! Yeah for Mikey's company doing well and Disneyland!
It will be great for James to feel he can hear and speak better - I didn't even know about adenoids until a few years ago when Russell's were checked.
But mostl, it is great you and baby have gotten past the 34week mark!

  2. So I've been MIA for a too long in the blogging world and didn't even realize that you have been on bed rest! So so sorry! I know you mentioned that you have tons of friends and family already helping but I'm happy to do anything you might need in addition too! I'm glad your are far enough along now that you can relax a little! Always a relief! How fun for your upcoming Disneyland trip! Maybe we can meet up while you're out there since we might be moving there... still waiting to hear from Nick's company where we will be moved to next. We're anxious to find out since we are suppose to be moving the end of April/beginning of May! I can't wait to meet your new addition when he makes his arrival!
