Tonsils, adenoids, ear tubes

On Monday Mr. James had his tonsils and adenoids removed plus had tubes put in his ears.
These pictures are pre-surgery in his gown and holding Red (the firetruck in Cars), his 'comfort blanket.'
It is now Thursday and he's doing okay. He hates the pain medicine and refuses to take it. Luckily he'll take Tylenol and that seems to hold him over pretty well. His little tongue is swollen, white, and cankered making it difficult and painful to talk. The novelty of popsicles and other soft treats has worn off and he is begging to eat real food like toast and cereal (his staples). Overall, the surgery went well and he's hanging in there. His quality of life will be so much better in another week or two :)

(Side note: Daniel just came to me holding a massive booger on his finger and saying, "Look, booger." He wouldn't go until we wiped it on a piece of paper on the computer desk-- it's now staring at me).

  1. I'm glad to hear that James is doing pretty well. I don't think that I would be able to handle popsicles etc. for too long either. :) Daniel makes me laugh.

  2. What a brave boy! So glad the surgery went so well and that his quality of life will be better! Glad he is hanging in there... just hope you are too! It's wearing on a Mom to have to keep telling your little sweetheart no, especially to things like toast and cereal (some of my personal staples too)! Daniel is hilarious! You are so lucky! :)
