Thanksgiving

What a fun week! First, my birthday was on Monday and we celebrated by buying the boys bunk beds (off of KSL classifieds of course) then inviting ourselves over to Tammy's house for dinner and pie (because my birthday is so close to Thanksgiving, my cake is often a pie).
Tuesday was wonderful!!! Grandma came over to watch the boys overnight meanwhile Mike and I drove to SLC and had our new traditional birthday dinner at The Roof. Their food is delish and their desserts are amazing. For my birthday Mike had the pianists play "Happy Birthday" and they brought us a crème brûlée`. That was the first we'd ever had it and we are both fans. We walked Temple Square, the Gateway, went to a movie, then stayed overnight at a hotel. It's always so nice to get away, just the two of us, especially when the boys are in such good care. They had a super fun time with Grandma and told us about all the fun they had.
Thanksgiving day was the best yet-- the food was perfect. It was the first time that Aunt Sara cooked the turkey by brining it first. All the dishes were yummy, the boys were happy, and the sun was shining which let us go outside for a walk.
Friday, we put up our decorations. We tried a few new things this year and they look better than they have in the past. It's amazing the difference that kids make in Holiday celebrations. This is the first year that I've loved having lights on our house (only because it costs so much), it's also the first that I've really enjoyed the work of decorations. Life, especially holidays and all the decor, are so magical for the boys.

Another highlight for our family this week was that Grandad (my Dad) came to visit. We haven't seen him for two years, which means Daniel was only 6 months the last time. The boys were besides themselves. They had so much fun playing "Bear" with Grandad, playing with Katelyn, eating pie even though they didn't touch their dinner, staying up late, running around crazy with Katelyn, and Grandad's doggy puppet show.

Cute story: a couple of weeks ago I sat down with James and asked, "If you could go anywhere, where would it be?" Without even thinking about it he said, "Katelyn's House!" Of course we weren't able to go because she was at school, but I think it's cute how much he adores her. He could've said McDonald's, the Dinosaur museum, Salt Lake, etc. But he chose the Disneyland in his life, which is her house.
