Happy Halloween!!!

Our two little monkeys-- who continually remind me why this costume is so very appropriate for them!

Daniel is now very comfortable on his feet and is loving the new found freedom! I am very glad he is now walking, and even encouraged it, but there is something to be said for those parents that dread it.

Let's see, thoughts on the week:

-- Daniel is our little Monkey and is all of a sudden very busy and into everything! Cleaning the house is futile as he follows right behind me undoing what I just did, plus some.

-- James isn't so keen on the whole monkey thing. He's only worn his costume once and it was right after being woken from a nap, straight to taking pictures, then rushed to a ward party. Hopefully he'll have more fun in it next time I offer it to him... if not, he sure felt cool strutting his stuff in a race car driver costume Ama found on clearance last season. He would much rather be a fire engine or a car. I'll let him choose next year.

--Speaking of our ward Halloween Party. Our Apple Crisp won first place in the pie cooking contest. Thank you to Ama for the recipe and Tammy for showing me her "hands on" technique of mixing the topping.

--Sad it's turning cold and that our heater has been on today. It's been a gorgeous fall, the leaves have been breathtaking, and I'm just glad we've made it this far without snow or frost (that's supposed to change on Wednesday).

--The boys got to ride on a hayride at Cornbelly's, pick out pumpkins for carving, watch a Blue Herring eat the fish we were feeding, and walk the gardens at Thanksgiving Point. It's so fun to be home with them and I feel so lucky to have that privilege.

--Chuggington. A new favorite TV show of ours. It's adorable. It's like a knock off of Thomas the Train but cute and fun. We watched way too much of it this weekend.

--Finally signed up for Yoga classes at the local Yoga center. Took my first class with them on Friday and loved it.

  1. Aren't those little monkeys ADORABLE?! The only thing he liked about his costume was his tail.

  2. I have to agree with both you and Mike, your two little monkeys are adorable! Super cute costumes! I know how you feel about letting them pick out their own costumes... I think next year Blake will have complete freedom (it's not worth the "fight")! Congratulations on your first place prize for your apple crisp! My mouth is watering! We also seem to watch too much Chuggington in our house too! Hope you have a fun and happy Halloween!

  3. Love the picture - at least he's smiling even if he didn't like the costume! Chuggington is a cute show - have they dubbed it into American accents, though, or do the trains still sound British? (it's been on kids BBC for at least a year here, maybe closer to two years).
Your apple crisp sounds amazing and we've had a few frosty mornings recently. I am not a winter person, hmmm.
    Happy Halloween! Enjoy!

  4. I need your apple crisp recipe! I've been trying a few, but don't think I have the "one" yet.

  5. I want the recipe also, plus these are the cutest Ball boys around! Monkeys are the perfect costume. Next year put a box over him and paint it as a car and he should be super happy.

    Love, MUM
