What a blast of a week! We loved it!!!
So, those of you who actually read what I write on the blog know that Mike and I love Midway, especially a fun Swiss resort called Zermatt. It's the coolest place and we've always wanted to stay there. We actually looked into staying a night without the kids, but it's a little pricey.
Well... some of you also know that we have officially made the PC to Mac switchover (Okay, Mike's home computer is a PC but he works on Mac). Anyway, we posted my laptop on the classifieds to sell it and we got hooked up with this trade instead. 1 week at a condo at Zermatt in exchange for really a pretty cool laptop. So, we booked our stay, hopped in the car, drove up the canyon for like the 4th time this fall, admired the amazing fall colors, enjoyed the peace and loud breathing of sleeping boys, listened to a good parenting tape on being honest and consistent with your kids, and arrived to a week of fun, relaxation, beauty, and family bonding time.
The resort was awesome. We went swimming, worked out in the gym, played in the sand horseshoe pit, ate gelato, sat in the steam rooms, and relaxed. We were very lucky to have my Mom up there for part of the time, so Mike and I were able to play miniature golf, eat at our new favorite Mexican restaraunt, Don Pedro's on Heber Main Street, and watch the 20th horse movie Disney has now produced. We were also able to go hot tubbing, work out, and relax while having another adult around to entertain them.
During the days had some fun outings.
Friday we checked in, walked around, and ate pizza & gelato
Saturday was our Train day. We first at lunch at Dairy Keen where there is a small train on tracks driving the interior perimeter of the store. We then went to the Heber Creeper, walked around, saw trains, got pics with trains, and then rode on the train. Boys thought it was very cool and the 90 minutes on it went surprisingly fast.
Sunday we attempted going to church. We lasted for one hour and the boys could not last any longer. Went for a Sunday drive, walked around, and lazed around.
Monday was Salt Lake City. We went to the Zoo, rode the train, and saw animals. Then, we went to Temple Square and walked on top of the Conference Center. Finally, we rode TRAX a few times and ate at Thaifoon, a favorite Thai place.
Tuesday Mike went to work so the boys and I hung out in Park City. Walked around the outlets, played on the quarter car machines, and held a cat at the pet adoption center. Did some other window shopping, and at lunch at the health food store.
Wednesday Mike and Ama had to work so the boys and I played. We walk/ jogged to a park where we played on the equipment and fed the ducks. The boys took naps and we took it easy.
Thursday we hung with Ama. She brought us to a fun park at one of the schools she works in. It was the perfect size for the boys and they had a ball on it.
On Friday we packed up, drove through park city to have a free lunch we won at a dinner a few months ago, and went home.
Saturday was a full day. We finished unpacking, did a little work around the house, then went to Cornbelly's to play. Went home, took naps, took fall pics of a friend and her family, and went back to Cornbelly's to play and get lost in the corn maze.
The entire week was so fun! We had two separate rooms divided by the living area. The boys slept amazingly well considering their new surroundings, and they were troopers. They went along with whatever we did and enjoyed taking in all the new and exciting experiences.
The weather was absolutely perfect all week. We lucked out with sun, blue skies, and warm but not hot temperatures. Could not have ordered a more perfect forecast or a more enjoyable trade for the laptop :)
Quotes of the Week:
Now I know why we had awful scout campouts in the rain and snow. It's so as a Dad, I can survive nights like last night. (I said the boys did well considering the circumstances, but not like at home).
and the favorite quote from Mike was during our exploration of the gym when Mike said, "I just farted in the Zen room."
I love the updates and that sounds like a fantastic week - fun, family time, good food, what more can you ask for?!
