Christmas 2014

‘Tis the morning of Christmas

Gratitude fills my heart

With so much to give thanks for

I'm not sure where to start.

It's been a mild winter

With little to show

Nothing short of a miracle

To wake up to snow!

The boys are so happy

They slept until (5:40) six

But presents and full stockings

Were an alluring mix.

Our testosterone-filled home

Boys bouncing off walls

A continual reminder

That (even with a newborn) duty still calls.

Festivities at TP

And Temple Square lights,

School programs and Elfy,

Amongst skiing and snowball fights.

The Ball family Nativity,

Aquarium, Boondocks, and friends,

December has been filled

With fun that never ends.

Meltdowns and tantrums

Add to seasonal joy

As parents we threaten

Coal instead of a toy.

Hot cocoa and treats

Fudge, caramels, and pinwheels

Gingerbread cookies

Plus a few healthy vittles.

Dr. Seuss's "The Grinch",

Lampoon's family vacation

Pink bunny pajamas

Polar Express animation.

Après- skiing at Alta

With Family cuddling by my side

Bliss and enjoyment

And smiles too big to hide.

Ninja turtle Lego set

A stuffed Winnie the Pooh

Remote control helicopter

And Magformers too.

But our favorite present

Under the tree

Has been new baby Derek--

Giving us four boys, not three.

As we reflect upon gifts

This holiday season

Knowingly we see

That Jesus is the reason.

A gift unconditional,

Merciful and kind

Reminds us that Christmas

Celebrates our Savior Divine.

So to family and loved ones

All over this world
