Mike and the boys joined their cousins for a 2 night campout at Mirror Lake... Andrew proved to us all that sleeping in a tent is not currently an option for him, so Ama, Andrew and I drove up for the day. It was a perfect day trip and a perfect day. Filled with fishing, hiking, playing in dirt, picking wildflowers, and a minute or two of relaxing. Camping isn't the quiet getaway that it used to be, but I'm guessing it's boys' absolute favorite thing in the world!
Additionally, Daniel got to spend some 1:1 Ama time and go fishing. Miraculously they caught one, and Daniel literally loved the thing to death. He showed it to every stranger he saw, he held it like a pet, he named it "Swimmy," he carried it all around camp, and then he watched in fascination as Ama dissected it and cooked it. He ate with crushed Cheetos on top. He loved it. And now he's "Hooked!"
A couple days ago he was 2 ft from getting hit by a car and I was again reminded that every day with Daniel is a gift. He has been sent as a blessing to our family. His goofy view on life and his ever-living in the moment brings joy (and stress) to us all and we are so grateful for his incredible spirit.
WOW! I love that kid! SO funny how he is holding the fish. He is truly a miracle in more ways that we realize!
