We had so much fun in the snow this week. I’m guessing our
neighborhood got at least two feet of beautiful, light, fluffy “lake affect”
snow. Here’s how we embraced it:
- Snowshoeing. I blew the dust of my snowshoes and went 4
different mornings, including a trek up the mountains in the hills behind our
house with a group of friends from the neighborhood.
- Sledding. We have this hideous retention, weed-collecting,
trash pile of a ditch adjacent to our lot. It belongs to the city and they are
leaving it in it’s “natural” vegetation. Ugly as it is in the summer, it’s a
hidden gem when there’s snow on it. I call it our luge. It’s steep, fast, and
short. The boys and I played on that quite a bit as well. One evening we were out on it. Towards the end, the
boys went to their shovels and snow while I did a few runs… the next thing I
know the boys were no where in sight. Come to find out, they were done with the snow and had gone inside.
- Joey. We built “Joey” the faceless, armless snowman.
Taller than daddy, Joey comes to life when everyone’s sleeping and plays in the
snow. His favorite game is getting together with the other snowmen in the
neighborhood and sledding on our red plastic sled.
- Shoveling. Probably the boy’s favorite outdoor pastime.
James even shoveled a path through our front yard and into our neighbor’s.
Btw. Yes, that is Andrew stuck in a snowdrift just like a pair of skis and poles on the ski hill :)
Such great family fun and photos to remember it all! That is a GIANT snowman!
