Wow, was it ever a long week. This time of year I have to remind myself how much I love the seasons. February and parts of March can seriously drag, especially when skiing isn't an option and the entire family is sick. James had ear infections in both ears along with one ruptured (supposedly very painful) ear drum. We stayed home/ inside all week and got some serious cabin fever.
These Valentine's Day flowers from Mikey have been a highlight of my week and I stop, inhale, and/or smile every time I walk past them. The fourth lily opened today and it totally made my day-- I once heard that fresh flowers help to create a happier and less contentious home. I pretty much love them and if nothing else, they encourage me to keep the counter cleared :)
Thankfully by Thursday James was on antibiotics and we were feeling better just in time for the weekend-long party with the Trainor kids. Their parents finally took a trip for themselves and we have been able to enjoy the past couple of days with them. The boys have been in heaven and consequently so have Mike and I. We went to Boondocks (1st for the boys), have played with legos, built a block tower up to the ceiling, played Ticket to Ride, etc. Daniel loved being pushed around in the blocks bin, playing hungry hippos with Katelyn, and being pampered and treated like her personal puppy. James has loved playing with cousins in our big dresser-sized cardboard box, sharing bunk beds with Katelyn, and even playing in the back yard with everyone before the snow storm hit.
Daniel has said some really cute things recently:
"I Neeked" for I'm naked-- which he Loves to be
"I Roobot!" for I'm a robot. I just love how he says it
Sometimes when he's being goofy or a little naughty, which is most of the time,
I'll ask" "Daniel, what are you doing?" to which he instantly responds, "I dunno."
Finally, I shouldn't recommend this Honey Badger video from Youtube, but it's hilarious and it is our Daniel. We call him our little Honey Badger because he "takes what he wants... and doesn't care." A disclaimer if you do watch the video: the narrator is flaming-- which adds to the humor in my opinion, the language is awful, and I think the first half is much better than the last bit.
Quote of the Week:
Bread feeds the body, indeed, but flowers feed also the soul. ~The Koran
How funny! I watched the video and you are right...it is SO our Dan Dan!!! Even struts like he does. Have to confess that I thought the language made it even more funny...shame on me. Lots of love.
