Perhaps it's entirely inappropriate to begin this entry with a Helen Keller joke, but if you've ever heard Mike tell one, it's hilarious. Not because the politically incorrect joke is particullary that funny, but Mike's reaction is priceless. I don't think I will ever get sick of hearing the same 5 jokes because he's always so proud of himself.
How did Helen Keller burn the side of her face? She answered the iron.
How did Helen Keller burn the other side of her face? They called back.
See, they're not funny. But, Mikey telling them is.
So, in all seriousness, I am so grateful for the sense of sight, and hearing. For the sense of touch, smell, and taste. I can't imagine going through life without one of those senses, as each one brings so much joy and pleasure into it. The joy of seeing the mountains from my back yard, looking into Mikey's eyes, or watching James smile. Of hearing the birds on a spring morning or James laugh while Mike plays with him. feeling a cool breeze or a soft fabric. Smelling the pine at Brule or Jamesy's yummy baby lotions. Tasting a delicious meal or treat. I'm grateful for my senses!
Aww thanks Robin for that! It's good to think about the blessings that we have in our lives that way.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes...Mike telling a joke is usually funnier than the joke itself.
