Day 24: Eternal Families

I've tried not to get too "churchy" on all of you--which is one reason why I started my Mormon Beliefs Blog. But, this entry is going to be all about what I believe about families, the temples, and Eternal Life.

I am so grateful for an Eternal Family. I am so grateful for the Temple, and for the sealing ordinances performed there. It is such a comfort, blessing, and joy to know that if Mike and I are faithful to each other, obedient to the commandments, and keep our covenants, that we can be together forever as husband and wife. I'm so grateful that I can be with my best friend after we die and beyond this life.

I'm grateful that the blessing of Eternal Families extends beyond Mike and I. It can include James and any other children we have. It can include my family and his. Our grandparents and great grandparents and our grandchildren and great grandchildren, etc, etc.

The Primary song, "Families Can Be Together Forever," puts it best:

I have a family here on earth.
They are so good to me.
I want to share my life with them through all eternity.
Fam’lies can be together forever through Heav’nly Father’s plan.
I always want to be with my own family, And the Lord has shown me how I can.
The Lord has shown me how I can. (Children’s Songbook, 188).
