35. Gerber plasic diaper. Made for swimming maybe? I like them for at-home photo shoots.
34. Sassy carseat toys. Who would have thought that a couple of little dangling butterfly could entertain a baby but they do, for a long time.
33. Fisher price chair/ cradle. Great for a baby who doesn't like to sleep on his back.
32. Prince Lionheart Bebe chair. James loves to sit in this and he feels so big.
31. Fisher Price Space Saver High Chair. Love this--baby fits in it the same as a normal high chair but it's not huge and clunky and taking up half your kitchen. You just strap it on to a kitchen chair.
30. Exersaucer (Kolcraft 2 in 1 baby sit & step). Not meant to be a babysitter but James loves this. In fact he's playing in it right now. Added bonus: I've nicknamed it the "instapoo" because James goes poo everytime he plays in it.
29. Fisher Price Papasan Swing. James doesn't spend a ton of time in this but he can last long enough for me to take a shower. Added bonus, he has fallen asleep in it a few times.
28. Nursing Cover. All the moms swear by these but I have been too cheap to break down and spend $20 for a piece of fabric.
27. Hot Sling. And yet I spent $40 for this piece of fabric. It's a wonderful sling to carry baby around the house, especially if yours is like mine who didn't like to be set down.
26. Tucks pads. Oh my goodness, if you've used these after delivery you know what I'm talking about, if not, you've got to try them. They definately beat the lame spray the hospital gives you.
25. Vicks CoolMist Humidifier. We used this for the first two months and then again a few weeks ago when James was sick with a fever and ear infection.
24. Above-the-ground swimming pool and water raft. What a life-saver in this heat plus James LOVES the water! If he's fussy or bored with his toys we just head outside and he can entertain us for a while.
23. Cloth diapers (they make great burping cloths, etc)
22. Chicco pack and play. We love the changing table and the little play-gym. Grows with baby.
21. Carters striped baby blanket. Soft and cuddly.
20. Pampers sensitive baby wipes
19. Baby's fist year Calendar. Great way to journal and document baby's first year without the commitment to a baby book (though I have one of those too and love it)
18. Boppy
17. Phillips Baby Monitor. Consumer Reports top pick.
16. Itzbeen time tracker $24 at Target
15. Nikkon SLR and two year portrait club membership to JC Penny
14. Crayola Model Magic airfoam. For capturing and preserving little hands and feet. I made Christmas Ornaments out of it and will be giving them to grandparents.
13. Chicco Carseat (travel system also comes with stroller) Consumer Reports top rated.
12. Changing Pads. Like the ones in the hospital--I bought a pack and like to change James on these.
11. Glider: metal frame from RC Willey $160 with ottoman
10. Medella dual breast pump: expensive but because I had to use it at work for a while it was so worth it
9. Playtex VentAire bottles
8. MAM pacifiers: these are sooo- cute on little newborns and definately beat those big, ugly green corks the hospital gives them and orthodontists recommend. Let's face it, Mike had braces, I had braces, everyone has braces these days, the kind of pacifier we give our kid is not going to prevent this necessary and expensive evil.
7. Mupirosine (for baby's yeast infectons) Rx. This magic cream cured James of his painful "diaper rash" so I thought in days and whenever I see signs of it returning all he needs is one or two doses and it's totally gone!
6. Butt Paste
5. Parent's Choice diapers. OK, I have done a little diaper experiment and the only difference between these and the expensive brands is price. Love these!
4. Johnson & Johnson Baby bath wash and Lotion, Baby Magic baby lotions, and of course Burts Bees. Who doesn't love the smell of a baby?
3. Burt's Bees diaper cream. I love the whole Burt's Bees line and this stuff is awesome.
2. SwaddleMe. Comes in different colors and fabrics for seasons.
1. B.O.B. Revolution jogging stroller!!! I LOOOVVVEE this! I just bought mine a week ago (used three times on KSL classified for $275) It is wonderful and definately beats a normal stroller!
None of these products, however replace a good 'ol fashioned mirror for James to look in--he loves his reflection, a smiling face to look at and talk to, being outside, grass, books, and songs. He loves to be read to, the crazy songs I sing with him, playing, walks, and just to be held.
Products I would not buy again: bottle warmer--lame, lame, lame--and expensive. Just use the microwave. That's how people have been heating milk for years, and it seems to work.
