Morning Sickness- Yuck!

So, I'm Pregnant! Hooray! Mike and I have been wanting this for some time now--but I was not expecting this. I guess I associate with positive, upbeat, and healthy people because I have only heard one friend fully explain the "blessings" of pregnancy. And when I listened to her a year ago I thought she was an exception--an only 1:10,000 case. Oh, no. She hit pregnancy right on.

1) Smells. Okay, I was under the impression that my sense of smell would be heightened and there would be some smells I would not tolerate and hate after the fact. Oh, no, no, no. See, I already have a heightened sense of smell. That has not changed. The only thing that has changed are any smell other than the "Natural Scents" like dirt, pine trees, water, and myself after not showering for two days make me nauseous! I love candles, perfumes, lotions, Tide, etc. In fact, my favorite smells are new carpet, a new book, fresh paint, and my Caribbean Breeze candle. In fact, funny story: Last month at a family reunion in Wisconsin there was this really good smelling Tide detergent. I loved it so much that I washed all of my clothes and half of Mike's in it. Double concentrate. What happens when I get home? The smell of that detergent makes me dry heave. So, once again, I had to wash all of our clothes again to try to get that previously-loved smell out of my closet! Alas, thank goodness for Tide UNSCENTED.

2) Foods. You know, foods haven't been too bad. The only time the baby gets real picky is when Mike wants to go one place and I want to go to another. The baby always wins. No, really, there are some foods that make me nauseous just thinking about it. But, overall, the only things that I haven't eaten much of are desserts (which haven't sounded good--how lucky is that?) and Italian (which I usually love). I have eaten more Thai food, saltine crackers, and I even ate 2 hot dogs. I don't eat hot dogs.

3) Fatigue. Wow. See, my sister warned me about this one and now images of her passed out on the couch are a common scene in my own home. Luckily, that is going away. Poor Mike, for our anniversary we went to Park City and I was a dead horse. Watching me try to play tennis was a site to see--I'm sure everyone around me thought it was a hangover. No, just pregnancy :)

My favorite product is this little piece of heaven. The ReliefBand! Typically used for motion sickness on cruises, flying, and long road trips. But, more importantly, an aid for morning sickness. It's magic, really. And for me it worked instantly. Nighttime was the worst for me, but since wearing this I have had no nausea. If I feel myself getting nauseous, I turn up the intensity and viola! I'm back to normal.
